Plainview v Ardmore
The Plainview girls softball team traveled to the Bob Jones Tournament this weekend to start their Spring Break. On Friday, April 2, the Bears overtook Ardmore 10-0 as Lily Boswell threw a no-hitter. Boswell allowed zero hits, zero runs, and struck out 13 over the six innings. Hannah Regula led the Bears in the batter’s box. She went 3-for-3 and scored two runs with one RBI. The Bears tallied 11 hits from Mia Tidmore, Abby Williams, Tessa Word, Elaine Puckett, Halle Brown, Jada Hampton, and Marisa Heitt.
Plainview v Brooks
In Game 2, Plainview’s pitching power proved too much for Brooks as Tessa Word threw a shutout and led the Bears to a 2-0 victory. Word gave up zero runs on four hits and struck out six over her seven innings. The Bears collected ten hits and were led by Tidmore, who went 4-for-4 at the plate. The Bears started Saturday with a Game 3 blowout over New Hope 14-1.
Plainview v New Hope
Puckett started the scoring frenzy when she went deep with a home run in the first inning and brought in two runs. Regula, Williams, and Puckett each racked up multiple hits for the Bears and contributed to their 13 total hits. Regula led at the plate. She went 3-for-4 and scored three runs with two RBIs. Word pitched the five innings, held New Hope to one run on four hits, and struck out ten batters.
Plainview v Austin
During Game 4, the Bears trailed 5-0 after the top of the fourth, but Plainview erased the deficit and won 8-5 over Austin. Word hit a double and knocked in Tidmore to start the rally in the bottom of the fourth. Boswell hit a sacrifice fly to center field to score Livi Smith, and Hampton singled to left field to score Brown and brought the score to 5-4. Word then knocked in the tying run in the bottom of the fifth, and the Bears scored three more runs before the inning ended. Plainview collected seven total hits for the game and brought in eight RBIs. Boswell and Word combined in the circle to strike out seven batters.
Plainview v Bob Jones
The Bears fell 8-0 to Bob Jones in their final game of the tournament on Saturday. Bob Jones held the Bears to four hits while earning nine for themselves. Williams, Regula, Brown, and Hampton each earned one hit for the Bears. Plainview tried three pitchers in the circle, Boswell, Word, and Brown, who struck out five total batters.
